General Information
In an effort to make recovering a forgotten password easy, without compromising security, the Password Reset feature was added. If you forget your MyLSU Account password, you will be able to enter the answer to your Password Reset Question (that was set up by you in myLSU).
If the Password Reset Question & certain personal information cannot be answered correctly, please visit the LSU Service Desk IN PERSON with your LSU ID or sufficient photo identification.
LSU Password Recovery Procedures
1. Use Password Reset Question to set a new password:
If there is a Password Reset Question established, you can set a new password without coming to the Service Desk. Enter the correct answer to the Password Reset Question.
- If ALL information, including the Password Reset Question, is answered correctly, the user will then be prompted to enter a new password immediately upon verification.
- If ALL information cannot be answered correctly, then the user needs to contact the IT Service Desk for next steps.
2. LSU e-mail accessed through myLSU:
1. Log into the myLSU Portal (my.lsu.edu).
2. Click Personal Preferences | Password Reset Question. A Password Reset Question is necessary to access this feature.
3. Click I Accept.
4. Under Password Reset Question enter in a Question and an Answer. Pay close attention to the hints and tips regarding the customization of this security feature.
5. Select Update.
6. If you forget your password, click FORGOT PASSWORD?
7. Type in your MyLSU ID Account and Password. Click Continue.
8. Under Verification Process, enter your last name, birth date, personal identification numbers, and the answer to your Password Reset Question.
9. Enter your NEW Password twice, and click Continue.

Important Notes
LSU has two locations where Faculty, Staff & Students can go to reset their password. The LSU Service Desk on the first floor of Fred Frey, and the Information Commons located in the LSU Library on the first floor.
